Playing the Course
Golf has been played on Chingford Golf course since the 1880s.
Rising about 100' from Chingford Plain, roaming in and out of Epping Forest, the course at 6,281 yards while not the longest, represents an interesting challenge to any golfer.
Due to a local Epping Forest bye-law restricting non-natural features from view and to retain the forest's natural appearance there are only a handful of bunkers, in the midst of the forest.
Sidehill, uphill and downhill lies will test your skills as will the greens that in summer are hard and fast and which, after more than a century, have many subtle variations.
