Welcome to the Royal Epping Forest Golf Club

Royal Epping Forest Golf Club (REFGC) was the first golf club to be established in Essex in 1888 and is the only one in Essex to bear the Royal title. The course is laid out over the historic hunting grounds of King Henry VIII and Elizabeth I.

Now you can go hunting for birdies and eagles at Royal Epping Forest, one of only four private member Royal Clubs in the UK playing on a public course. The most notable of these being The Royal & Ancient Golf Club, St. Andrews.

In 1901 the City of London Corporation took over the management of the golf course and from that time it has operated as a public course. REFGC's clubhouse is located in a prime position overlooking the 18th green. We feel sure that you will find the course both challenging to play, and beautiful to play on.
